Assessment Policies
Initial Assessment Consultations
- An Initial Assessment Consultation costs $450.00 for a 1-hour consultation. Unfortunately, this is not claimable under a Mental Health Treatment Plan (MHTP) as MHTP are designed for psychological treatment and intervention only, not for assessments.
- Individuals under the age of 25 may be able to access a referral which can provide a rebate to assist with the costs associated with an Autism assessment. This referral must be provided by a Psychiatrist or Paediatrician. Please refer to this link for more information regarding neurodevelopmental conditions and diagnostic assessment rebates.

New Leaf Therapy requires a minimum of 2 business days' notice for the cancellation or rescheduling of Initial Assessment Consultations.
- Any changes (rescheduling or cancelling) within 2 business days' will incur the full appointment fee.
- If you miss your scheduled assessment appointment without providing any notice, this will be deemed a "non-attendance" appointment. In this case, you are agreeable to paying the non-attendance fee which is 100% of the consult fee ($450).
- If you wish to rebook your initial assessment consultation, the $450.00 initial consult fee must be paid to New Leaf Therapy prior to booking another appointment day and time.
Brief & Comprehensive Assessments
Please be mindful that the assessment report will not be released to you (or any other relevant parties) if there are any outstanding fees (including the feedback session).
Fees are payable prior to beginning the assessment via direct bank transfer. New Leaf Therapy does not hold or accept cash on the premises.
Out of assessment correspondence or requests (including detailed emails, phone calls, liaising with other professionals or family members) may be subject to additional fees.
If there is an indication that additional interview time is needed to complete your assessment (i.e. more than what was discussed and initially set aside for your assessment), you will be notified of additional charges for time taken (billed at a standard rate of $250 per hour). This may be warranted depending on the complexity of your presentation. This assures that your assessment is still conducted accurately and thoroughly, and to ensure that you are heard and understood (without feeling rushed).

A 50% initial deposit of your assessment is required prior to beginning the administration process.
- If you no longer wish to proceed with the assessment, and you wish to cancel your assessment entirely, you must provide at least 14 business days’ notice to receive a full refund of your deposit.
- If you provide less than 7 business days’ notice to cancel your assessment entirely, you will be subject to a 50% late cancellation fee of your initial deposit.
- If you provide less than 2 business days' notice to cancel your assessment entirely, you will forfeit your entire deposit as a late cancellation fee.
- If you miss your scheduled assessment appointment without providing adequate notice, you will forfeit your entire deposit and a new deposit will be required to reschedule and rebook.
